Council Awards Library Roof Restoration to Lowest of Four Bidders
Listen
The council awarded a $184,010 contract to Alden-Bailey Restoration Corp. to rehabilitate the Glen Ridge Public Library roof, the lowest of four bids received; the next-lowest bid, from Lewis-Graham, Inc., came in at $204,500, while the highest, from Pravco, was $271,540.
Council gave final adoption to Ordinance No. 1736 establishing the borough's new planned residential development zone, and approved an interlocal agreement under which the Borough will provide fields and field maintenance for the Board of Education. Separately, the Essex County Executive presented the borough with CARES Act grant funding tied to its COVID-19 relief paperwork.
Councilor Lisovicz reported on the latest Covid-19 statistics and urged continued mask-wearing and social distancing, and Mayor Patrick warned that many recent cases had been contact-traced to large family gatherings, asking residents to keep that in mind through the holidays. With door-to-door trick-or-treating cancelled, the recreation department launched a virtual Halloween photo contest. DPW reported ongoing storm-drain clearing and tree trimming, and Carteret Park reopened. During public comment, resident Mr. Donnolly of 22 Madison Street asked about the status of a firearms permit he had submitted, and Chief Byron-Lagattuta responded directly.
