Glen Ridge officials announced that a public hearing on proposed rules for short-term rentals, such as Airbnb-style stays, will be held on March 20. Mayor Mans reported the update on behalf of Councilor Morrow, with the ordinance presented by Erik DeLine.

In other business, the Council approved a $3,575.00 increase to the Borough's existing contract with Dujets Tree Experts Inc. for tree removal and stump grinding work, bringing the total cost of that project to $42,240.00, up from the original $38,665.00 awarded in November 2023. The Council also approved the purchase of a new 2024 Ford Bronco Sport Big Bend 4x4 for the Department of Public Works, at a cost of $31,542.60, bought through a Morris County cooperative purchasing contract from Nielsen Ford of Morristown. Separately, the Council awarded a contract to Double D Turf, LLC of Hightstown for the 2024 program to aerate the Borough's athletic fields, at a cost of $11,582.50, after the company was determined to be the lowest responsible bidder.

The Council also approved payment of a batch of claims across several Borough funds totaling over $360,000, including money from the Current Fund, Water Operating Fund, and other accounts, and authorized payroll to be issued on March 15, 2024. Additionally, the Council approved a Social Affair Permit for a Pilgrim Nursery School fundraiser scheduled for April 26, along with five separate raffle license applications submitted by the Glen Ridge High School Home & School Association and the Minette Grosso McKenna Angel Foundation for events planned between April and May 2024.

On a lighter note, Mayor Mans praised resident Jim Cowan for reviving the Borough's electronic newsletter and thanked the Third Grade for sending a thank-you card tied to Read Across America. Administrator Zichelli also recognized Elizabeth Baker as the creator of the Borough's original newsletter.
