The Council appointed Captain Sean Quinn as the Borough's new Chief of Police, following Chief Sheila Byron-Lagattuta's resignation effective May 1, and Mayor Patrick administered his oath of office during the meeting. The resolution cited Quinn's service as captain and second-in-command since 2016, his completion of the New Jersey State Chiefs Association's Command and Leadership Course (earning the Chief Harry Wilde Academic Achievement Award), FBI Command Leadership Institute training, and a Master of Science in Forensic Science from John Jay College. Councilor Lisovicz congratulated Quinn as the Borough's 12th police chief, and he was further congratulated by Erik DeLine and retired Chief Byron-Lagattuta, who wished the department continued success.

In a separate resolution, the Council formally dedicated Herman Street as "Officer Roberts Way," one year after the death of Officer Charles "Rob" Roberts III, detailing his 19-year career with the department, his roles as bicycle patrol officer, DARE/LEAD officer, detective, and posthumous promotion to Sergeant, and his three children.

The Council also adopted a resolution authorizing the Tax Assessor and Borough Attorney to file and defend tax appeals before the Essex County Board of Taxation and Superior Court. Councilor Law moved to table Ordinance No. 1747, an amendment to park property and regulations, pending further review; the motion passed and the ordinance was tabled indefinitely for now. Councilor Morrow reported that 59% of Glen Ridge residents 18 and older were fully vaccinated and 31% had received a first dose. Resident Maggie Reed asked why Council and Board of Education meetings are scheduled on the same nights. All votes were unanimous.
