The Glen Ridge Board of Education, meeting on November 16, 2020, voted unanimously to direct $200,000 of the district's $271,603 in state "Extraordinary Aid" — extra funding the state provides for high-need students — into the 2020-2021 budget to pay for repair and maintenance work at the high school.

In other business, the Board unanimously approved a home instruction agreement with Silvergate Prep to provide a student with private, one-on-one instruction at a rate of $55.00 per hour for 10 hours a week, beginning November 2, 2020.

The Board also handled a series of routine financial matters, all approved unanimously. Members ratified October bills and claims totaling $1,300,679.57, along with payroll and related payments of $2,137,395.52. They approved a separate list of open purchase orders — advance approvals for planned spending — totaling $138,380.96, as well as an additional $62,891.90 in bills for materials and services already received. Student activity account bills for October, totaling $5,913.00, were also approved; that spending came entirely from Glen Ridge High School and its athletics programs, while Ridgewood Avenue, Forest Avenue, and Linden Avenue Schools each reported no student activity spending.
