Glen Ridge Raises Tax Delinquency Interest Rates and Authorizes 2020 Tax Lien Sale
Listen
The Glen Ridge Mayor and Council took several key actions at their recent meeting, including financial adjustments and operational updates. The Borough increased interest rates for unpaid taxes, setting them at 8% on the first $1,500 of delinquency and 18% on amounts exceeding that threshold, effective immediately. Additionally, the Tax Collector was authorized to conduct a tax lien sale for 2020 taxes and municipal charges now delinquent.
The Council also expanded insurance coverage to include The Gas Lamp Players and the Glen Ridge Athletic Association (G.R.A.A.) as additional insureds at no extra cost. A revised fee schedule was approved for various services, including vital records, permits, and recreation activities, with specific dollar amounts listed for each. Public participation at meetings was restricted to maintain order, except as required by law.
Other routine updates included designating official newspapers for legal notices, setting municipal office hours, and appointing fund commissioners. The Borough also noted a FEMA floodplain compliance deadline and received a satisfactory inspection from the DEP Green Acres program for Hurrell Field.
