Between the Stacks
Library board minutes move between routine budget lines and, occasionally, real civic drama. This page tracks every book mentioned by name — challenged, purchased, donated, or discussed — and lets you filter by how it came up.
Six challenged books, one unanimous vote
The single biggest story in this archive: on February 8, 2023, before a standing-room crowd and nearly 100 public speakers, the board voted book by book to retain all six titles a resident had formally challenged.

How this was put together: every meeting's minutes were read in full and broken into specific topics — not generic labels like "budget discussed." Routine procedural content (minutes approval, standard bill-list line items) was excluded unless the specific action was itself notable. Separately, every book named anywhere in the minutes was logged with its context, then classified by how it came up (a mechanical keyword match on that context, not a separate editorial pass).
This covers every library board meeting in the archive (37 meetings, October 2022 through December 2025) -- the site's library coverage doesn't go back further than that yet.
This is a one-time look back, not a live feature — it won't update automatically as new meetings are published. See the library's own site for the current record.
