HPC Approves Forest Avenue School Scoreboard and Madison Street Renovation
Listen
The Historic Preservation Commission's December meeting was brief, with two straightforward applications approved without dissent. Dan Murphy, stepping down from the commission to present as an applicant, described a new scoreboard to be erected on the Forest Avenue School field for the Borough of Glen Ridge; the commission approved it as submitted, noting that a subcommittee had already met on the design before the formal application was filed. The commission also approved a kitchen-renovation-related addition at 30 Madison Street for homeowners Kara and Darius Dehnad, consisting of a small rear landing, three steps and one railing, only the steps of which will be visible from the street.
In subcommittee business, the commission fielded an email inquiry from architect Rick Jarzembowski regarding acceptable exterior trim materials for a project at 419 Ridgewood Avenue; after review, a subcommittee confirmed that cellular PVC products (Azek or Kleer) and urethane or polymer-and-ash composite trim (Fypon or TruExterior/Ash) are acceptable substitutes for wood trim and moldings.
The commission adopted its November 4, 2015 minutes and heard no public comment before adjourning.
