Glen Ridge's Board of Adjustment on June 8, 2023 approved a side-yard setback variance for Maggie Wedemeyer and Chris Corbin at 21 Herman Street to build a rear shed dormer. Architect Javier Fuentes testified the undersized lot -- with an existing side-yard setback of just 1.9 feet -- created the hardship for the variance, and that the proposed dormer would not worsen the property's nonconformity; the project had already been approved by the Historic Preservation Commission. A resident of 252 Ridgewood Avenue asked during the hearing whether a large tree at the rear of the property would be retained, and Corbin confirmed it would be.

No other members of the public commented, and the board voted unanimously to approve the application. The board also adopted its May 11, 2023 minutes, with Mr. Bergmanson, Ms. Berger, Mr. Johnson, and Mr. Scott abstaining.
