In a brief adjourned session ahead of a swearing-in ceremony, the council unanimously passed a resolution honoring James "Jim" Ashenfelter, who had served on the Glen Ridge Board of Adjustment since January 1992 — 28 years — following in the volunteer footsteps of his parents, longtime supporters of the Glen Ridge Educational Foundation and Freeman Gardens. Administrator Michael Zichelli, Chief Byron-Lagattuta, and Councilor Murphy each offered remarks thanking Ashenfelter for his service and dedication to the town, and Ashenfelter thanked the mayor, council, and department heads in return.

With no other business on the agenda, the council adjourned sine die, with Mayor Patrick announcing the council would reconvene immediately following a swearing-in ceremony for incoming officials.
