Glen Ridge Supports Holiday Impaired Driving Crackdown as Borough Approves New Furniture and Parking Rules
Listen
The Glen Ridge Mayor and Council meeting kicked off with a proclamation backing the state’s "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign, which will see increased police patrols from December 3, 2021, through New Year’s Day to deter drunk driving during the holidays. The borough also approved a $19,487.88 contract with The Hon Company to furnish the Glen Ridge Community Center with new furniture.
The meeting introduced two ordinances that could impact residents: one proposing new parking restrictions on certain streets (Ordinance No. 1757) and another establishing salary structures for union and non-union employees (Ordinances 1755 and 1756). Both will require further review before final approval.
Public Works crews are gearing up for the Ashenfelter 8K race on Thanksgiving morning, repairing potholes and preparing the route. Additionally, Councilor Mans announced upcoming holiday events, including the Menorah Lighting and Holiday Tree Lighting ceremonies.
